Lisbon | Bank branches aren’t typically known for their atmosphere or visual appeal. But one of Portugal’s largest banks, Caixa Geral de Depósitos (CGD), is changing that perception – with the help of digital signage and a humpback whale.

Digital Storytelling: The Whale in the Window
In downtown Lisbon, CGD transformed its ATM foyer into a space that not only serves customers but also captures the attention of passersby. The bank installed a wall-sized LED display around its ATMs, visible from the street, and uses it for digital storytelling.
The current visual: a virtual humpback whale, gracefully swimming through digital waters. At 13 meters long and weighing up to 30 tons, the real animal is massive – and its digital counterpart is just as eye-catching. The animation is subtle, elegant, and effective. It’s a reminder that digital signage doesn’t need to be loud to make an impact.
