Almost 600,000 Licenses: Poppulo Grows Through Strategic Takeover

One of the largest digital signage software providers in the world is getting even larger: Poppulo is acquiring Reach Media Network. While Poppulo has traditionally focused on enterprise customers, Reach specializes in SMBs and long-tail markets. More mergers and acquisitions are on the horizon.

Many leading digital signage software companies are currently making strategic moves. Samsung is shaking up the market with VXT, the successor to Magicinfo. Navori plans to consolidate the industry under new private equity ownership. Meanwhile, Poppulo enters a new expansion phase with several M&A transactions.

The Denver- and Cork-based workplace experience specialist was formed through the merger of Four Winds Interactive and the workplace platform Poppulo. Now, the joint company is acquiring Minneapolis-based Reach Media Network. Reach, a digital signage specialist with 9,000 mostly mid-sized customers and around 25,000 active CMS licenses, as well as hardware and service contracts. Founded 20 years ago, Reach is a well-established player in the North American market.

Poppulo, on the other hand, serves approximately 1,000 digital signage customers with over 550,000 licenses across 80 countries. When including app-only customers, its reach expands to 4,500 customers, including more than 40 Fortune 100 companies.

In a conversation with invidis, CEO Ruth Fornell said Poppulo plans to keep both platforms and brands to serve its diverse customer base while ensuring continuity for existing customers. Reach’s management will stay on board and continue expanding the SME offering under the Poppulo umbrella.

The acquisition of Reach Media Network is supposed to mark the beginning of a new growth phase for Poppulo. “We are actively looking for further acquisitions and have potential companies on our radar,” said Ruth Fornell. Fornell, who took over as Poppulo’s CEO just over a year ago, previously held senior roles at NCR for nearly 20 years.
