Samsung VXT: “The Simplicity Convinces our Partners”

With VXT, Samsung presented the successor to Magicinfo at ISE 2024. A year later, Amit Chatterjee, Manager Pre-Sales Solutions at Samsung Germany, is looking back at the first year and market acceptance. While most digital signage integrators are still unfamiliar with VXT, IT integrators are enthusiastic about the simplicity.

A display manufacturer selling its own CMS software – not an easy task for the team around Amit Chatterjee at Samsung Electronics Germany. Even though Magicinfo, the first CMS platform from Samsung, was rarely considered a competitive CMS by established digital signage integrators, the worldwide installed base grew to more than a million licenses, according to invidis information.

This makes Magicinfo one of the top 3 digital signage platforms worldwide powering screens at global QSR chains as well as innovative DooH networks. But Magicinfo’s days are coming to an end, new features are no longer being developed and new hardware platforms will not be supported anymore.

Time for something new – “State of the Art” software

The successor, VXT, launched in January 2024 – is fundamentally newly developed modern cloud-native CMS based on microservices. Contrary to market rumors, VXT is not limited to Tizen, but also runs on Android 10 and Windows systems. With VXT, Samsung supports all professional display platforms for the first time: digital signage screens, LED and e-paper. Hotel TVs will also be supported in the future.

Samsung is also building on the latest software architecture when it comes to cyber security. This includes not only comprehensive ISO 27001 certification, but also the integration of Samsung Knox, the Mobile IT Security Platform, which has been adapted for digital signage applications.

Today, no major software provider dares to enter the market without some form of AI integration. Samsung is therefore planning to connect VXT to its own AI platforms as well as to Smart Things Pro – Samsung’s IoT platform, which turns Samsung hardware into a central hub for building control.

Partners are enthusiastic about the simplicity of use

First customers are already testing VXT in productive use. Users and IT integrators alike are enthusiastic about the simplicity of the software. “VXT has no nested menus, operation is self-explanatory and users require almost no training. The perfect CMS platform for system partners who are looking for simple solutions for their customers,” says Amit Chatterjee.

But VXT is also already in productive use driving screens in large projects including software adaptations and data connections to existing backend systems. The big advantage of the platform is its easy implementation and Samsung’s service package. “Integrators who have previously used their own software appreciate how stress-free VXT is. No first-level support, no hosting and access to digital art and image databases – all taken care off by Samsung.”

With VXT Remote Management, the new platform also offers a comprehensive remote device management tool that, unlike IT tools such as Teamviewer, is optimized for digital signage use. Fewer on-site visits mean lower costs for integrators and therefore higher margins.

Open and trusting – Samsung talks openly with partners

Established digital signage integrators are somewhat more critical of VXT’s market entry. “We are aware of the situation and talk openly with all market players. In certain cases, VXT Remote Management is an excellent addition to their CMS. We are open and flexible and look for joint win-win solutions.”

Samsung sells VXT through the well-known distribution channels in the DACH region and is developing many other features that will be released over the course of the year. At the ISE 2025 in Barcelona, Samsung will present the platform at its booth in Hall 3.
