Gas Stations: Where Remote Device Management is Mandatory

Reykjavik | Digital price displays are mandatory in most countries – especially at gas stations with frequently fluctuating prices. A typical case of business critical signage and remote device management. Hamburg-based digital signage specialist Accenta enables Icelandic gas station chains to operate safely with Kiosk IQ.

At Iceland’s gas stations, price display pylons offer more than just information, the large-format LEDs are also used for digital retail media campaigns. There’s no question about it: roadside outdoor LED displays are business critical.

For reliable operation of digital signage touchpoints, Accenta developed a remote device management solution Kiosk IQ. The combined hardware and software solution enables remote monitoring and control of digital signage and surrounding infrastructure. The Icelandic petrol station chain N1 also uses Kiosk IQ to monitor the temperature, humidity, vibrations and the access door of the LED price pylons.

Of course, core digital signage applications on Windows PCs, LED controllers and LEDs are also monitored. All data is condensed in a dashboard and alarms are triggered if deviations from the norm are detected. For large networks, a NOC is recommended that can intervene day and night in the event of malfunctions.

The two Icelandic petrol station chains also use Accenta’s TVlution digital signage CMS, with connections to the petrol station operators’ price interfaces. The prices are updated automatically – no trivial task with security-critical data.
