Outernet London: New Antarctica Film in 25K

Following the success of Greenpeace’s 2024 hit Forsaken, Outernet London now presents a new nature spectacle: the immersive show Antarctica: The Melting Silence. It’s one of the most elaborate environmental film projects to date.

Anyone who has visited the London Outernet knows that its screens are unmatched in showcasing natural wonders, the visuals creating a sharp contrast to the busy high street surroundings. The only exception might be the Las Vegas Sphere, the queen of all immersive venues. But the 25K LED walls of the Now Building – the largest building in the Outernet LED district – are predestined for immersive nature cinema.

On Earth Day, Outernet launched its latest show, turning the area around Oxford Street into a 360-degree Antarctic landscape. The film, Antarctica: The Melting Silence, is a collaboration between Outernet, Lookport, and Communications Inc.

Over 60 artists, scientists, and technologists contributed to the project, making it one of the most ambitious environmental efforts of its kind. Its goal is to raise awareness about the Antarctica2030 initiative, which seeks to create a global network of marine protected areas covering 30% of the Southern Ocean.

“The Southern Ocean regulates our global climate, supports marine ecosystems worldwide, and sustains billions of livelihoods. This immersive experience brings the remote Antarctic to London, helping people connect emotionally with a place they may never visit but that urgently needs their support,” says Ashlan Gorse Cousteau, journalist, researcher and ambassador for the Antarctica2030 initiative.

The film features original orchestral music by Nico Cartosio, a contemporary classical composer and two-time Billboard Classical Top 20 artist. The music was recorded with a full live orchestra, including over 150 instrument tracks, and is further enhanced by Outernet’s immersive audio system.

Philip O’Ferrall, CEO of Outernet Global, said: “Outernet was designed to be a canvas for the most important stories of our time. ‘Antarctica: The Melting Silence’ perfectly demonstrates how our immersive technology can create unprecedented emotional connections between audiences and urgent global issues. By transforming our digital canvas into the Antarctic wilderness, we’re not just showcasing technological innovation—we’re helping to inspire meaningful action for one of the planet’s most critical ecosystems.”

Antarctica: The Melting Silence will run until the next Earth Day on April 22, 2026.
