Jeffrey Weitzman, Navori: “We’re the Most Specialized Company in the Industry”

Munich | Twenty-six years after the founding of Navori Labs, the Swiss CMS experts are entering a new chapter: CEO Jérôme Moeri will hand over the company to Maguar Capital, an investment firm based in Munich. invidis spoke with the Managing Director, Jeffrey Weitzman, who’s been with Navori Labs for more than 14 years.

Jeffrey Weitzman has had a busy few weeks as Navori Labs’ Managing Director. The digital signage software company closed another record year: it reached double-digit growth, and all objectives of its aggressive long-term growth plan. At the same time, Navori Labs was undergoing a sales process with its new owner, Maguar Capital. With the process now complete, we met Jeffrey Weitzman during his stopover at Maguar Capital’s Munich office, en route to ISE 2025 in Barcelona.

About growth

“Navori Labs doubled in size since the pandemic”, Jeffrey Weitzman said, proud of the progress he and his team have achieved in the past four years. “We have grown in a steady and organic way. Thanks to Jérôme, who has been an amazing leader building something truly great.” Jérôme Moeri is Navori’s CEO who founded the company 26 years ago and now led it to its acquisition.

Navori Labs doesn’t publish any performance data, but according to the latest 2024 invidis ranking, the Swiss-based ISV currently powers between 750,000 and one million digital signage touchpoints worldwide. This installed base is likely to grow even faster now: “With Maguar Capital as the new majority shareholder, we plan to take the next step. For us, this means following a dual approach: We’ll continue to focus on organic growth through innovation, particularly in software. In addition, we now have the means to accelerate this growth through M&A.”

Jeffrey Weitzman and the investors from Maguar Capital will be available to answer questions from the professional audience at the DSS ISE, which will take place on Wednesday, February 5, 2025.

About strategy

Weitzman plans to stick to a partner-only sales model: “Navori Labs will not change how we have run our business in the past. We will remain a software-focused engineering company, though with significantly more firepower. Navori Labs is 100% a channel company” Weitzman said. While organic and inorganic growth is firmly set, “We constantly strive to be number 1, which motivates us to wake up every morning, aim higher, and build an environment for continuous improvement.” While size matters and goals change over time (“a moving goalpost”), Navori Labs’ mission is to remain an innovation leader.

About platform

Navori Labs has always prided itself on being a thought leader in the industry. “We have set the groundwork with our current tech stack, which is most important. New and big innovations are on their way.” Weitzman sees significant advantages for Navori Labs compared to other market players: As a pure-play ISV, the Swiss company remains laser-focused without the distractions of a bolt-on integration business. “We are the most specialized company in our industry”, Weitzman added.

Symbolizing this focus is the latest in-house-developed StiX 3800 digital signage player with integrated audience analytics. “Our player is the first dedicated AI media player running on Android. It was designed to be as energy-efficient as possible while delivering the best on-device AI performance. While the majority of AI platforms for digital signage are x86-based, our AI players run on ARM,” Weitzman explained.
