Christie and Prysm have a new competitor in the video building blocks space – a German company called Eyevis that has launched a new product called Omnishapes. The company is showing the display blocks for the first time at InfoComm in Orlando.
The units are very similar to the LED light engine tile products first unveiled by Christie and later by Prysm. The overall size is similar, but there are notable differences. The Omnishapes tiles have different shapes, notably a hexagonal display. They are also designed with bevels so that they can take on curved walls.
Another difference – definitely with MicroTiles and I think with Prysm – is the Omnishapes media player is built in to the unit. So each unit is potentially a standalone device, or they can be orchestrated with video wall processors.
The units ship with the CPU and software for $3200 MSRP.
