Seoul | A visit to the Chinese retailer Pop Mart – known for its pop culture and designer toys – is the highlight of every Gen Z city trip. Originally known for its 1,000+ vending machines throughout Asia, Pop Mart also operates several flagship stores. This includes South Korea, where the brand set up shop in the Myeong-dong shopping district with a remarkable transparent LED facade.
Whether in China, Japan, or South Korea – Pop Mart‘s little characters are more popular than ever among Gen Z. The brand first gained fame with its vending machines, which can be found in many metro stations, department stores, and shopping centers across Asia. But Pop Mart is expanding beyond vending machines and is focusing on experience stores in attractive downtown locations.
This is also the case in the main shopping district of Myeong-dong in the heart of Seoul. A narrow shopping street where LEDs flash and glow on almost every facade. Attracting the right amount of attention here is an art.

Fully transparent – Skullpanda, Molly, Hirono, Pucky, and Dimoo
Pop Mart stands out with a particularly clever digital signage concept featuring a transparent media façade. The play with transparency and animations of their popular characters enables eye-catching storytelling without losing visibility within the store.
