Barcelona | Newly introduced and already part of energy-saving smart city concepts: Dynascan is implementing the new 75-inch Kaleido 3 panel from E Ink in its technology-agnostic DK kiosk series.
Bright, brighter, Dynascan – the Taiwanese display manufacturer stands for solid, sunlight-readable screens like no other. But if you have your headquarters in the immediate vicinity of E Ink, you probably automatically ask yourself whether high-brightness always has to mean LCD. Or whether sometimes the answer can also be e-paper.
As a high-brightness specialist, Dynascan has optimized the power consumption and durability of its outdoor displays over the years. But at some point, LCD displays reach their limits. They need as much power as they need. With e-paper, however, limited sizes and colors were a problem. Now, E Ink is producing a 75-inch version based on the Kaleido 3 generation. This allows Dynascan to seamlessly integrate the panel into its DK kiosk series, which is designed to be technology-agnostic and can be equipped with LCD, LED, and now e-paper.
Although colors are still very limited with Kaleido 3, the goal is to eventually offer full-color e-paper in kiosk format. This could have potential applications in areas like city information systems.
