Brightsign at ISE: The Purple Empire Is Growing

Barcelona | Brightsign had plenty of updates to share in Barcelona last week. With a partnership with LG, a growing network of SoC partners, and a new 5-year warranty, the media player specialists have laid the foundation for future growth.

Jeff Hastings made a confident appearance at ISE this year. The Brightsign founder had some head-turning news to announce in the weeks leading up to the show, all aimed at expanding the ecosystem around the purple media players.

Brightsign prominently displayed a wall of screens outside its booth, all powered by its Brightsign SoC. Included were a few by US provider Bluefin, known for costum signage displays, but also several different sized ones by the Moka brand from Chinese electronics giant TCL, supplementing Brightsign’s SoC ecosystem with a competitively prized mass market solution.

And then Brightsign announced a partnership with LG a few weeks ago, bringing its operating system to LG’s own SoC set in the latest UV5N display series. This is the first time Brightsign is offering its operating system independently of its own hardware. This move allows the San-José-based company to establish its OS even more strongly alongside the other standards in the signage industry like Android, Windows, Tizen, and WebOS. Meanwhile, LG customers gain more flexibility and access to the 28 CMS partners in the Brightsign Alliance.

At the start of the year, Brightsign also became the first in the industry to offer a 5-year unconditional warranty on all new players purchased since January 2025. With this move, Jeff Hastings aims to highlight the longevity of the purple devices he began developing in the early 2000s, rather than just talking about their quality. A signal that may prompt others in the industry to also reconsider the standard 3-year warranty and encourage customers to invest more sustainably.
