Despite a period of low sentiment, the digital signage market still achieved growth by year-end. Q4 provided a strong finish to 2024, as reflected in our DBCI survey results.
After a mixed year in 2023 and a shaky start to 2024, the digital signage market still ended the year on a positive note. The Digital Signage Business Climate Index (DBCI) indicates that the industry recovered from its interim low in the fourth quarter. By year-end, the index reached 50.63, approaching the strong Q1 value of 54.09 (on a scale from -100 to +100). This suggests that at least some of high expectations the industry had at the start of the year were met.
About the DBCI
The DBCI provides the digital signage industry with an index reflecting the current business sentiment index. It is used by major market researchers in their reports and is based on our quarterly surveys, for which we engage the industry across all our channels.
Overall mood more positive than in 2023
After a disappointing 2023, 2024 started with a great deal of optimism and high hopes for a market recovery. However, by the second quarter, expectations fell sharply. The DBCI index had recorded a sharp decline in both market outlook and current conditions, raising concerns that 2024 could face stagnation or even negative growth.
Solid year-end business
Signs of a turnaround appeared in Q3 as sentiment gradually improved. Many companies placed their hopes on the traditionally strong fourth quarter, and expectations for year-end business were high. The DBCI results show that these expectations were largely met, leaving most market participants satisfied with the year’s end. Whether the optimism can be maintained, will be shown in the next DBCI survey for Q1 of 2025.
