Stratacache subsidiary PRN has secured a retail media contract with Europe’s largest gym chain, Basic Fit: PRN will manage more than 5,000 digital signage displays in over 850 gyms in France.
Stratacache’s CEO Chris Riegel has been testing the waters for retail media in Europe for a while now. He’s currently actively seeking out customers for the Stratacache subsidiary PRN as well as regional digital signage companies to acquire. This week, the world’s third-largest digital signage provider announced a major success.
Starting in January 2025, PRN will manage and market all 5,000 digital signage screens for Europe’s largest fitness chain, Basic Fit, in France. According to PRN, this represents the inventory achieves an accumulated 110 million impressions. This marks PRN’s first retail media deal in Europe. In North America, PRN has been designing, implementing, and marketing in-store screen networks for 30 years already. The sister company Scala is known as one of the software pioneers in retail media.
For Basic Fit, PRN will use anonymous sensor and measurement technology from its Finnish sister company, Walkbase, which track and measure the audience reach in real-time on-site. Walkbase will supply all the sensor equipment to evaluate impressions and movements of studio users. For target group targeting and campaign evaluation, this sensor data will be combined with data from Basic Fit app’s digital check-ins.
Scala customer since 2012
Basic Fit, Europe’s largest fitness chain, has 1,500 studios and over 4 million customers. Since 2012, the Dutch chain has used Scala as its CMS for digital signage, with First Impression serving as its full-service integrator. For this new client, as well as future projects in the country, PRN will set up a dedicated French sales team based in Paris.
