The Volvo sister brand Polestar is known for its minimalist design – the cars as well as the showrooms. Last winter, the Swedish brand took the concept to the extreme and opened the first Polestar Snow Space at the Arctic Circle. In Rovaniemi, Finland, a temporary showroom was built entirely out of snow.
The temporary showroom was designed to the same minimalist standards typical of Polestar Spaces. Clear edges, large areas, little color and almost no digital. It is precisely this minimalism that allowed the design-focused brand to build a Polestar Space out of a material that is abundant in the capital of Lapland: snow.
Completely sustainable and most fitting for an EV manufacturer: snow is not only clean, sustainable and circular, but also an important part of the Polestar color range. The building material for the temporary Polestar Space was obtained from the immediate area and brought to the construction site in fully electric trucks. After the temporary car showroom at the Arctic Circle was closed, the snow was completely returned to its natural cycle.
The typical Polestar Spaces presentation of selected Polestar components was also realized in the Snow Space. Only not like the originals made of metal or plastic, but as artistic replicas made of pure ice.
The Finnish city on the Arctic Circle also features a test track that is typically used for test drives on snow in winter. Ideal for visitors to the Polestar Snow Space, they were able to test the electric cars on a closed road.
