M&A: Novisign Acquires U.S.-Based Customer Base

Novisign is accelerating its North American expansion with the acquisition of a full customer base from a legacy U.S. CMS provider - bringing hundreds of organizations onto its modern platform. The deal highlights the accelerating consolidation of the digital signage market as aging systems give way to scalable, NextGen solutions and subscription-based business models.

Consolidation in the digital signage market continues – and in the current U.S. environment, where valuation expectations between buyers and sellers remain far apart, alternative deal structures are gaining traction. One increasingly common path is the acquisition of customer bases rather than full companies, especially from legacy CMS providers operating on aging tech stacks.

Israel‑based Novisign has now taken this route, acquiring the entire customer base of a U.S.-based CMS provider. While both parties have agreed to keep the transaction confidential, invidis understands that the acquired portfolio belongs to a lesser‑known digital signage market player based in the North-West of the US exiting the market.

The deal brings hundreds of organizations onto Novisign’s platform – representing one of the company’s most significant expansions to date in North America, already its most important growth market. As part of the migration process, customers will transition from legacy systems to Novisign’s modern and scalable digital signage platform. Novisign is handling full content and asset migration while ensuring continued compatibility with existing players and hardware infrastructures. According to the company, this approach allows customers to upgrade their operations without costly hardware replacements or operational disruption.

Novisign, founded 14 years ago and profitable since its inception, has until this transaction grown entirely organically. The newly acquired customer base spans retail, QSR, education, healthcare, hospitality, and corporate environments – a broad reflection of the U.S. digital signage market.

The company views this transaction as a starting point for further customer‑base acquisitions targeting outdated CMS platforms.

The digital signage industry is undergoing tectonic change. The market is evolving from thousands of independent ISVs toward a few dozen relevant platform providers. Consolidation, AI disruption, cybersecurity requirements and higher customer expectations are reshaping the competitive landscape.

While it has never been easier to develop a “good enough” CMS from a technical standpoint, success in digital signage requires far more than software. The winning platforms will be those that deeply understand vertical market needs, integrate with essential back‑end systems, and adapt to customer workflows – instead of forcing customers to adapt to the software.

invidis will explore NextGen Signage, market consolidation and the future of CMS platforms at the upcoming The DSS in Munich (20–21 May 2026).
