ISE 2026: When the Venue Becomes the Canvas

Barcelona | ISE 2026 once again proved how powerfully the show can transform shared spaces, with Instronic’s “Breathe” turning a functional tunnel into one of the event’s most talked‑about experiences. As planning for 2027 begins, anticipation is already building for what immersive innovation will come next.

It has only been a month since ISE 2026 opened its doors, yet the momentum of the show still feels as vivid as opening day. As soon as ISE wrapped, MWC Barcelona moved into Fira Gran Via, bringing the city into its second major exhibition cycle of the year. For ISE, 2026 marked another record edition – and for invidis, easily the busiest show we have ever experienced.

Among the many highlights across the halls, one stood out personally and symbolically: the tunnel connecting Hall 8 with the base of Fira Gran Via. Ever since ISE relocated to Barcelona, the show’s management has discussed and tested how to transform this high‑traffic connector into an immersive showcase – a place where the ProAV industry could be experienced, not just exhibited.

The vision was clear: collaborate with local digital signage creative studios to bring regional innovation to a global stage. After an extensive exploration of concepts, Instronic emerged with the most compelling – and crucially, a concept meeting the strict regulations of the space. As an official evacuation route, the tunnel is subject to extremely rigid fire and safety requirements, which ruled out many creative concepts early in the process.

Instronic’s installation, “Breathe,” delivered exactly what we hoped for: a fully integrated light, sound and digital media experience that transformed a functional passageway into an emotional one. To finally step into Breathe in real life – and to witness the reactions of ten-thousands of visitors flowing through the tunnel each day – was an absolute highlight. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive. For many attendees, Breathe became one of the defining moments of ISE 2026.

This approach captures what makes ISE so unique: the show does not simply host the ProAV industry – it activates and integrates it throughout the venue. From the now‑iconic transparent LED at the South Entrance to this year’s immersive tunnel, ISE continues to use its own infrastructure as a living canvas for digital signage.

What comes in 2027?

And of course, the question everyone now asks: What comes next?

The creative discussions for ISE 2027 have already begun. Ideas are plentiful, and ISE remains open to bold digital concepts that continue to push the boundaries of how shared spaces at Fira Gran Via can be transformed through AV, media architecture and experience design.

One thing is certain: You’ll have to come to ISE 2027 to discover it for yourself.
