M-Cube has installed a 100-meter-long immersive LED tunnel in Italy’s Galleria Bombi in Gorizia. This installation transforms the historic passageway into a digital gallery.

M-Cube: LED Art Illuminates Historic Tunnel
Usually the Galleria Bombi is a pedestrian tunnel in Gorizia in north-eastern Italy, right on the border with Slovenia. It was named after a former mayor of the city. The former air-raid shelter is about 300 metres long and runs as an underground passage beneath the castle hill of Gorizia.
Since December 16th 2025, 100 metres of the Galleria Bombi have been surrounded by an immersive LED world and opened to pedestrians. The installation was carried out by M-Cube and its LED specialist division, Videomobile.
The Italian-based digital signage integrator has already implemented a digital gallery in Florence in a tunnel leading from the cathedral to a train station.
148 million pixels integrated
The LED surface is 925 square metres. With a pixel pitch of 2.5 millimetres, it contains 148 million pixels. The self-supporting structure weighs 37 tonnes and is secured with 6.000 bolts and 44.400 screws. Eleven kilometers of network cables were laid, two kilometers of power cables, as well as 300-metre-long electrical and ventilation ducts.
On its Linkedin Profile, M-Cube published a video of the installation.
Five workstations, twenty 4K video signals, and 3.700 LED housings are delivering a resolution of 40,000 × 3,700 pixels — transforming the tunnel’s interior into a digital environment.
Refik Anadol, the world-renowned media and digital artist, designed the graphic content that the installation plays.
Twelve specialized technicians worked on the installation over 30 days. Especially challenging was the curved architecture the vault.
Digital art meets history
Leonardo Comelli, Commercial Director at M-Cube, said: “We are proud to be present in the territory with a project of this scale, which makes a concrete contribution to the celebration of Gorizia–Nova Gorica as European Capital of Culture 2025.”
This transformation of the Galleria Bombi was a flagship project within the European Capital of Culture program — merging art and technology with the historical heritage of the city.
