Best Practice: More WoW for India and the Gulf

Mumbai | Connected and data-driven digital signage trends are most prevalent in Europe and North America. Asia and the Gulf region are the perfect playground for large WoW projects. Together with Nita Odedra from Blue Rhine in Dubai, invidis presented WoW digital signage best practices.

Everyone knows the LED facade on the world’s tallest building in Dubai – but few know that the media facade on Burj Khalifa recently received a high-resolution upgrade. And digital signage is also a priority around the tower. During the renovation of the Dubai Fountain, a nearly 500-meter-long LED wall was erected as a construction fence. Instead of water fountains and music, there was digital storytelling on what was arguably the longest temporary LED wall in the world.

A permanent installation is the enormous LED wall above the Dubai Aquarium. Already the second generation of digital signage. For many years, the world’s largest OLED wall dominated the floors above the Dubai Aquarium. After the screens reached the end of their technical lifespan, they were upgraded to LED. Blue Rhine was responsible for this as well, as the digital signage partner of the mall operator Emaar.

In addition to Dubai, a particularly large number of WoW projects are being realized in Riyadh. Middle East digital signage expert Nita Odedra expects continued huge demand for WoW projects in the coming years. However, unlike in the past, projects in the Gulf region must also be profitable. WoW with common sense instead of WoW without a plan.

But there are also many best-practice projects in Asia – from Beijing to Singapore to Seoul. Anamorphic billboards, in particular, are very popular. Predominantly on corner LED surfaces, but increasingly also on flat digital canvases.
