Digital signage content remains one of the biggest challenges – especially for SME customers. Without centralized distribution platforms and rights consolidators, trading is extremely difficult. Windowsight now offers a comprehensive content offering together with some of the largest manufacturers.

Signage: Democratizing The Value of Content
Throughout the history of digital signage, there have been repeated attempts to successfully offer rich media licensed content (images, videos). So far, the success has been modest. Only the centralized distribution of news, weather, etc. is established on the market – Screenfeed is considered the market leader here.
Now, Windowsight, a startup from Barcelona, is stepping in to shake up the market. Manufacturers like Samsung already offer content subscriptions through integrated stores for selected lifestyle displays. But Windowsight relies on a hybrid approach – a manufacturer-independent AWS backbone embedded in the manufacturer’s app store.

Founder Pol Rosset has now secured the first smart TV partners. The current catalog of over 20,000 photos and videos, including some of the best photographers from National Geographic will be available as the default art gallery and screensaver into more than 10 million screens. Those leading manufacturers will go live in the coming months.

As a content provider to other partner platforms, including some CMS signage solutions, Windowsight content will be available on approximately 150 million devices. “We have all the rights, the backend-platform, and now also the signed contracts,” said Pol Rosset in an interview with invidis. “Windowsight is going to be the standard for screensavers and art galleries in the industry.”
“The biggest challenge of the past few months has been to make the platform scalable so that we can deliver not 10,000, but 10 million streams simultaneously.” This only works with hyperscalers and content delivery networks (CDNs) like Amazon AWS.
The content offering will soon also be available for professional digital signage. Windowsight is already close to announcing its integration with a leading display provider. “Of course, content access for digital signage customers will be via an API – we want to empower our signage partners and provide the best value for their customers within their signage platform.”
“Network operators and integrators of professional digital signage screens can now integrate content efficiently,” Pol Rosset said. “And completely legally,” he adds.
