Salling Group: Nationwide Retail Media Upgrade

The Salling Group, Denmark’s largest food retailer, is switching its entire retail media network to Visual Art’s digital signage software. Around 7,500 licenses will be delivered across its three supermarket chains.

Stockholm-based Visual Art has gained a major new customer in Denmark. The Vertiseit subsidiary will provide its digital signage software and related services to the Salling Group and its in-store retail media networks. The five-year contract includes the grocery chains Føtex, Bilka, and Netto (not to be confused with Netto Markendiscount from the German Edeka Group). Combined, the three chains make the Salling Group the largest food retailer in Denmark.

Full migration by the end of 2026

As invidis estimates, the agreement covers about 7,500 software licenses, which Visual Art will deliver by the end of 2026. A large part of the network is expected to be running by next March.

By switching to Visual Art’s software, the Salling Group aims to improve the in-store customer experience and boost retail media profits. Amongst the new features the company will be exploring are audience data analysis, campaign measurement, and sensor-based activation.

Improved targeting and analytics

“We see great potential in jointly evolving our offering,” said Anders Spicker, Head of Retail Media at the Salling Group. “Both by optimising what exists and adding new components that further enhance the experience and commercial value.”

Andreas Lind, Chief Commercial Officer at Visual Art, added: “I meet many companies working with in-store retail media, but Salling Group’s drive and innovative mindset truly stand out. They have a purposeful and forward-looking approach to how digital communication should create value every day. We look forward to building a long-term partnership together.”

Visual Art will manage the entire technical migration, provide both remote and on-site support, and integrate the system into Salling Group’s existing ad tech platform.
