Germany: Ströer Hits Record Sales on DooH and AI Growth

Digital-out-of-home is booming, and Statista is emerging as a key AI data supplier: The German Ströer Group increased its revenue to €980 million in the first half of 2025, powered by DooH growth and AI partnerships.

German OoH market leader Ströer’s digital out-of-home business reached a new half-year record in the first six months of 2025. DooH made up 41% of the outdoor advertising business, 17% more than the same period last year, which had already been boosted by events like the European Football Championship.

Programmatic DooH (pDooH) grew especially fast, rising 26%. The combined growth of DooH and programmatic, along with strong demand across all outdoor advertising, helped Ströer’s core business grow 7% to €455 million. This also pushed OoH’s share of the total German advertising market above 10% for the first time.

“The fact that outdoor advertising’s market share in Germany has passed the ten-percent mark shows both the strength of this medium and the success of our strategy,” said Christian Schmalzl, Co-CEO of Ströer. “We are growing faster than the overall market, driven by our in-house AI solutions, early investment in digital outdoor infrastructure, and our technological lead in programmatic delivery. These advantages are now clearly paying off.”

Partnerships with Large LLM

The online data platform Statista is becoming Ströer’s second growth pillar and is positioning itself as a key data provider for AI systems. The platform now supplies data for large language models (LLMs) and enterprise GPTs through interfaces such as APIs and MCP servers. Partners include Microsoft 365 Copilot, Perplexity, and Canva. Pilot integrations are also underway with the knowledge management systems of major companies.

“With Statista’s development into an integrated data layer for AI-driven knowledge management systems, and our connections to leading LLMs, we have laid the groundwork to benefit from the rapid growth of the AI market alongside our partners,” said Christian Schmalz.

E-Commerce and Online Advertising Slow Down

In the first half of the year, Statista’s revenue rose 3.3% (3.6% adjusted for currency effects). However, the overall DaaS & E-Commerce segment slipped from €178 million to €176 million, mainly due to weaker retail and e-commerce sales at Asambeauty. The Digital & Dialog Media segment, which includes the news platform T-Online, also saw a small revenue decline, from €419 million to €416 million.

Overall, Ströer generated a consolidated revenue of €980 million in the first half of 2025, up 2% from the same period last year. The company is maintaining its full-year forecast but expects stronger results in the fourth quarter, as summer business was weaker than anticipated.
