Infocomm Asia: From Workbench to Booming Market

Bangkok | While most of Europe and North America is relaxing in summer vacation mode, Asia's ProAV and digital signage industry is meeting at Infocomm Asia 2025. Southeast Asia was long considered only a production hub, but now demand for ProAV is growing faster than anywhere else in the world. The region is catching up – and not only thanks to AI.

The Asia-Pacific (APAC) region is closing the digital signage technology gap with Europe and North America faster than expected, in part thanks to AI. While Europe’s digital signage market is growing slowly, with only low single-digit gains, the APAC region saw a 28% increase in the first quarter, according to Omdia (invidis article).

At the opening of Infocomm Asia in Bangkok, industry experts discussed global market trends, with a focus on growth in the APAC region.

The breathtaking development of AI is transforming markets in months instead of years. Currently, AI performance doubles every 90 days, whereas chip computing power doubles “only” every two years, according to Moore’s Law.

In today’s global and highly transparent digital signage market, staggered product launches are becoming a thing of the past. Traditionally, new products introduced at ISE were first available in Europe and North America, with the APAC region following about a year later. Now, product releases happen simultaneously worldwide. As a result, the industry’s focus has shifted to where growth is strongest – clearly more in Asia than in Western markets.

Younger and more digitally savvy

The visitor profile at Infocomm Asia reflects the demographics of Southeast Asia – younger, well-educated, and significantly more digitally and AI-savvy compared to attendees at ISE or Infocomm USA. This is one reason why an increasing number of exhibitors and industry experts are choosing to attend Infocomm Asia in Bangkok. Companies like Signagelive and Navori are among those participating for the first time.

Digital signage concepts based on Agentic AI can offer useful and value-creating, context-sensitive solutions that are localized and culturally adapted. In the ASEAN region—home to ten member countries with diverse languages and alphabets—Agentic AI helps overcome many of the challenges related to communication and personalization.

The panel agreed – the necessary technology is available, but end-customers need to adapt their data strategies to the shifting times. A well known challenge faced not only by enterprise customers in Southeast Asia.
