The shift to LED displays is already happening, especially for video walls. But LCDs remain the bread-and-butter business in the digital signage industry, as 2024 market data shows.
LCD displays still offer enough advantages over LED to make them the more practical choice in everyday digital signage: easy logistics, fast installation, relatively low power use, and simple maintenance; and no separate construction is required. In addition, LFDs with integrated player PCs do not require any external cables, boxes or accessories.

The LCD market is shifting toward ecosystem integration and more advanced solutions. A clear example is Samsung stepping into the software side of digital signage with its VXT platform.
LCD may no longer the dominant display option for large format projects, but there are still plenty of applications for affordable, smart 4K LCDs that are ready to go right out of the box. The LCD business isn’t going anywhere.
