Aldi is entering the delivery market together with partners. Consumers order via a delivery app, drivers pack the orders at the Aldi store, and deliver free of charge. The discounter is testing “Aldi-Livery” in its most innovative market in Australia - Europe will have to wait.

Aldi-Livery: Aldi Trials First-Ever Grocery Delivery
In a first for the supermarket, Aldi Australia is teaming up with DoorDash to trial on-demand grocery delivery starting in Canberra. Aussies in the nation’s capital can shop Aldi’s full range of low-priced products at the click of a button for the first time ever. Through DoorDash, Canberrans can now order from more than 1,800 products including fresh fruit and vegetables, meat, seafood, dairy, bread and household essentials.

No more “Aisle be back”
Big brands and retailers like to test new formats in markets far from their headquarters. It would be hard to find a region further away than Australia at Aldi Süd’s Germany based headquarters. In Sydney Aldi tested it’s first corner market format for city dwellers making shopping at Aldi an unprecedented experience. Aldi stores are usually the physical equivalent to Amazon – very efficient but lacking shopping experiences.
But Aldi is challenging its decades old image with new, surprisingly inviting store concepts in Australia and China. And now is testing Aldi-Livery – home delivery via Door Dash.
Shoppers in Australia’s capital can now skip the visit to the supermarket – no more “aisle be back”. They just simply use the delivery app and simply add items to their cart and order on-demand, or choose a delivery window that suits them, with Dashers who shop and deliver straight to their door.
