Kentucky-based integrator Creative Realities has completed its first major arena project in Canada. The company designed a 900-screen digital signage system for Rogers Arena in Vancouver, powered by Uniguest’s Tripleplay CMS.
Creative Realities has worked with Uniguest to modernize Rogers Arena, home of Vancouver’s hockey team, the Canucks. The arena, which seats 19,000 people, now features 900 new LG screens, all connected through Uniguest’s Tripleplay software.
The digital signage deployment was part of a broader venue-wide technology refresh. According to Uniguest, a central part of this refresh was a new content strategy that includes IPTV network connectivity of the digital signage screens. With the Tripleplay software, TV broadcasts and digital signage content can be centrally managed.
Synchronized take-overs across all screens
Another key feature of this new content strategy is the “Moments of Exclusivity” trigger, which allows for synchronized screen takeovers when goals are scored. In the catering areas, LG displays serve as digital menu boards. Other screens are placed throughout corridors, VIP suites, retail areas, clubs, and restrooms.
“We were looking to modernize Rogers Arena with cutting-edge digital solutions that could elevate the fan experience while improving operational efficiency and maximizing engagement,” said Nguyen Nguyen, Sr. Vice President of Technology for the Canucks Sports & Entertainment, Aquilini Group. “Creative Realities brought the expertise and execution we needed, and their ability to deliver at scale with remarkable speed was a key factor in the success of this project.”
“This project is a milestone not just for Rogers Arena but for the broader Canadian sports and entertainment market,” said Lee Summers, President of Sports and Entertainment at Creative Realities. “It demonstrates how forward-thinking digital solutions can transform live venues, creating new opportunities for fan engagement, sponsorship activation and revenue growth. We’re honored to partner with the Canucks in redefining service and innovation in sports and entertainment.”
More digital upgrades are planned
Creative Realities, based in Louisville, Kentucky, is one of North America’s largest pure-play digital signage integrators. The company has outfitted around 50 sports venues in the U.S. with digital signage and took on Rogers Arena as its first major Canadian project. The first phase included infrastructure, IPTV setup, and content strategy. A second phase is being discussed, although details about further upgrades haven’t been revealed.
Hardware partners for the project included LG, Legrand AV for display mounts, and Atec Signs for integration.
