Earning extra revenue from screens in stores is no longer exclusive to large retailers. More and more CMS providers, now including Spectrio with its RMN Gateway, are offering commercialization options to their customers through plugins.
US software provider Spectrio is launching a new retail media module for its digital signage CMS called “RMN Gateway.” This tool allows retailers to sell advertising space on their digital signage touchpoints. According to Spectrio, store operators can earn between $30 and $40 per screen per month, with the potential for even higher earnings in high-traffic locations.
Bridge between retailers and ad servers
RMN Gateway connects digital signage networks with programmatic ad server platforms, linking retailers to a wide advertising ecosystem. The revenue generated from ads is supposed to help retailers offset the costs of their digital signage infrastructure.
“Retailers have long understood the value of their physical spaces for engaging customers, but many haven’t been able to fully capitalize on the revenue potential of their digital signage networks,” says Tamara Bebb, CEO of Spectrio. “Our RMN Gateway changes that by connecting these valuable in-store touchpoints to the wider advertising ecosystem, creating new opportunities for both retailers and brands to engage consumers at the critical point of decision.”
RMN Gateway offers the following features:

- Audience targeting using first-party, second-party, and third-party data
- Centralized control over the balance between advertising and brand content

- Flexible monetization models: Advertising space can be sold directly, through ad exchanges, or via agencies
Payment processing through Spectrio or ad tech partner
Spectrio provides a calculation tool on its website that retailers can use to estimate the ad revenue shares they could earn with their digital signage displays. RMN Gateway offers different options for managing revenue between end customers, advertising partners, and Spectrio. Advertising revenue can be processed either through Spectrio or a chosen ad tech partner.

RMN Gateway is now available to all Spectrio Enplug Professional and Enterprise customers. Customers with older Enplug subscriptions or other digital signage platforms have the option to upgrade to RMN Gateway.
