Neom The Line is the boldest and most expensive urban development project in Saudi Arabia and most likely the world. One of the stadiums of FIFA World Cup 2034 will be a spectacular rooftop stadium 350 meters above ground integrated into Neom The Line. Plenty of LED will complement the football pitch.
A football stadium 350 meters above the ground: Saudi Arabia has announced plans for a unique football stadium as part of its bid for the FIFA 2034 World Cup. The high-tech “Neom Stadium” will be built into Saudi Arabia’s city of the future, Neom The Line. The stadium will be accessed solely via high-speed elevators and autonomous cars, powered entirely by solar energy and located under the same roof that is to span the entire linear desert city. It is the latest breathtaking construction project to be announced by Saudi Arabia.
The stadium, designed to hold 45,000 visitors, is planned as the centerpiece of a district in Neom The Line that focuses on sports facilities. Adjacent to it, there will be a health and well-being district as well as a university. “It will use the most advanced technology for players, spectators and television broadcasters: e-ticket gates, Ultra HD broadcasts and so on,” reads the offer Saudi Arabia submitted to win the host contract for the FIFA World Cup 2034, for which the desert state is the only applicant so far.
Eleven new stadiums for the 2034 World Cup
The Neom Stadium is just one of eleven stadiums that Saudi Arabia plans to build for the World Cup, with four existing stadiums set to be renovated. Another futuristic project is the New Murabba Stadium, to be built in northwest Riyadh. Its design will be inspired by the native acacia tree, with a roof made of overlapping layers that resemble the peeling, flat structure of the tree bark.
