In August, the Belgian postal service, Bpost Group, acquired the French third-party logistics company Staci, including its subsidiary Pixel Inspiration, a leading British digital signage integrator. While Pixel Inspiration may not have been the primary target of Bpost’s acquisition strategy, it’s not the first time a partnership between digital signage and postal groups occurs.
Neither the Belgian Bpost nor the French Staci are well-known names in the European digital signage market. However, Pixel Inspiration, a leading British digital signage integrator acquired by Staci in 2018, has strong brand recognition in the industry. Staci had strengthened its POS logistics service business with Pixel’s digital signage solutions. In 2023, the Staci group generated 771 million euros in sales, with the majority coming from third-party logistics services rather than digital signage.
Today, Pixel Inspiration manages over 30.000 digital signage displays worldwide with over 100 employees, mainly for retail customers across Europe. The most important CMS partners are Dise (Vertiseit), Scala, and Telelogos.
The 1.3 billion euro (enterprise value) acquisition of Pixel’s parent company Staci by Büost could change the strategic focus of the role of POS omnichannel solutions in the new larger logistics group.
The history of digital signage companies acquired by international postal and telecommunications groups is long and colorful. Most recently, Swiss Post acquired the DooH media owner Live Systems, and Swisscom acquired Switzerland’s largest integrator JLS Digital.
